Consultations

The Expert Panel would like to thank everyone that participated in its consultation process, which took place from April 21, 2008 to July 15, 2008. The representations were insightful and thought-provoking, and they will be an important input to the final report.

The Expert Panel held meetings with stakeholders from across Canada and internationally, including retail and institutional investors, professional associations, and securities regulators. It also invited written submissions through this website. The Expert Panel was particularly interested in views on the issues and questions raised in its consultation document.

Over the three-month consultation period, the Expert Panel met with well over 100 stakeholders and received close to 80 written submissions, reflecting the importance that many assign to the need to improve securities regulation in Canada. The Expert Panel has posted on this website the written submissions together with a report that summarizes the face-to-face stakeholder meetings.
